Break Time!

Anything interesting that comes to my mind, anything interesting I go through, and anything interesting I feel!

Once a student .. Always a student....

I was at this Introduction to Freight Forwarding course. It was real real cool! Ofcourse it was tiring bas it was worth it.

Apart from being beneficial it was SUPER fun.

You know the feeling of being a student again .. OH GOD I missed that so much :)

We were a fairly big group of 30 people. All SUPPOSEDLY mature. Everyone was sent to this course from their company. The attandees were from different countries UAE, India, Khazakhistan, Hong- Kong, bla bla bla...

The best part was meeting these new people. The age categories varied from 22 ( me being the youngest) and 45 ( Vijay Kumar was the eldest).

Remember how we always wanted breaks during classes?

Rememeber how we always made fun of the instructor the MINUTE he turned his back?

Remember how there was always a nerds group sitting in front and the ones who didnt really want to learn at the back?

Remember this one girl who was every guy's dream in the class?

Remember this one guy who was every girl's dream in a class?? ( in this case the guy's name was FIRMINO!!!))

Remember how the professor always asked us to turn off our mobiles and they still rang everyday?

Remember the panicing before exams? yes there was a girl who was actually crying b4 the exam :) I felt bad for her though :(

Remember the cheat sheets in our socks?

The best part was on the exam!!! When everyone wants to sit beside the smartest guy/girl in class hehehehehehe

It was fun...

I guess students are pretty much the same no matter how old they get :)

The problem is I have been told AFTER the exam that each company requests an assessment on the person who has taken the course.. not only grades wise but HOW THEY ACTED!!!

I wasnt a total disgrace to my company but let's see how it goes :)

Arabic Lessons for Arabs

I received these cartoons to my email and laughed so hard at them as they seemed so true. They happen everyday in our society.

I remember an incident where a friend of mine and I were sitting on the same table at a wedding. She has a 1 and a half year old boy and she wanted him to sit down and she kept on saying SIT SIT. I laughed at her and said .. he is your kid he isn’t a dog!!! She addressed him in English and I swear it sounded like she was talking to a dog or something. Later on, she only addressed the poor little kid in English so I just had to comment again, asking her as to why they talk to him in English, and she said well am German and his dad is Italian ( as a joke.. she is Arab and her husband too). We laughed and I just got it out of my system for a while. She explained later that she wanted the kid to grow up with fluent English. GUESS WHAT?? He will end up not speaking his own mother tongue language!!

It is lovely to have bilingual kids and even trilingual. The only excuse for an Arab to not speak Arabic is that they would have been born and brought up abroad in an English or French or whatever other language it is country.

I have always thought that English was easier to use as many people around me don’t speak Arabic, but once at home it is ARABIC that I want to hear. After a long day of English I miss hearing Arabic. I remember a movie for Ahmad Zaki ( Al Namir Al Aswad) that I was watching a couple of days ago on TV. He was in Germany for a while and the minute he heard ARABIC he was jumping around of happiness. I loved the way this actor expressed it.

It is such a shame that we find many Arabs who don’t speak Arabic AT ALL. The language is getting weaker everyday as we don’t want to speak it anymore.

The trend is say Hi in English, put some words in Arabic and then go back to English. Distorted sentences!!! People either think it is cooler to talk that way or it just says that they well educated!

Knowing other languages is a must nowadays, but of course we shouldn’t just let go of our own language as it is a beautiful one.

I go back to criticize myself now. Well I can speak Arabic very well but sometimes I just feel that I can express myself better in English which is something I SHOULD START working on. I will definitely start reading more Arabic books and Arabic poetry. I would definitely teach my kids Arabic first if ever have any ;) oh and I sure need Arabic typing lessons!!

Peace,

MY NEW LOOK!!

Finally!!

I've been planning for this for a while now, but never got the time to do much about it.

Hope you like it..

Same Reema ... Different Colors :)

Hijabi ... Zeenati

Hijab related questions:

Q: So why do you wear Hijab?

A:
Because Hijab an act of obedience to Allah and to his prophet
Because Hijab protects women from the male gaze
Hijab is for greater purity for the hearts of believing men and  women because  it screens against the desire of the heart by cutting off the ill  thoughts and the greed of the sick hearts
     Hijab is a shield
Hijab fits the natural bashfulness which is a part of the nature of women
Hijab fits the natural feeling of jealousy

Q: Believe it or not?? Westerners and Asians ask me if I wear it at home!!!??

A: no I don’t!! I don’t cover my hair from my dad, son, brother, husband, and uncles!! No I don’t sleep wearing it and no I’ am not BALD! :)

Q: It is too hot out there, how could you wear it around your neck?

A: It is even hotter in hell isn’t it??

I heard a very nice comparison from a friend yesterday too; she said: okay so if it is very hot out there and some guy is wearing normal pants does he take them off in the street? Well no he doesn’t.. he has to wear the pants and it isn’t the pants that are making him feel hot anyways. You just get used to what you wear!

These are the mostly common questions I get nowadays. I’ve been asked these questions a lot lately as many people I work with are non muslim and non arab. I don’t really mind it, on the contrary I really love it when they are asking and I answer proudly, and believe it or not many of them highly respect it.

Now some acts got on my nerves lately, so what are they?

1-     I hear of a friend who has taken off her hijab lately, why??? Because she can’t find a GROOM!!

2-     I know a woman who took off her hijab because her husband wanted her to!!

3-     A friend was telling me that he is looking for a bride and that he is planning to get married, so if I knew anyone maybe I could recommend, but his first condition was: I DON’T WANT HER WEARING hijab! Tayyeb why? Because he doesn’t like girls with hijab.

4-     Hijab is being ridiculed. You don’t find a certain job because you cover your hair. If you enter a certain place sometimes people look at you like why is she dressed up like that ( I’m not talking bar am just talking a normal restaurant but not so many muslims are there)

5-     Hijab a TREND

6-     .

7-     .

8-     The list goes on.

No offense to any girl who does not wear hijab. I’m not trying to make you wear it because I know at times like these it could be difficult. I myself took a long time to get a 100% sure that I want to do that. I know it is not easy for a working woman. I know it is not easy for a woman who is out there and has great ambition. I know it is not easy to give up on showing off your pretty hair. I know it is not easy to shop for long skirts and long sleeve shirts and t-shirts. I know we all think we are more beautiful without it.

BUT

Hijab doesn’t stop you from anything in your life. I have always done whatever I want but with my veil on. I say it with pride and yes it makes me feel much safer and decent inside. If someone wants to hire me and make me show cleavage to clients so that they sign a deal well am not an object. I am a muslim woman who in Islam has the greatest deal of respect, and unlike what others try to convince us a muslim woman is NOT oppressed.

Presentable: hehe THAT word… people now think that a woman with a veil on is of lower presentability. She cannot be taken to certain places, and yes that is very true!! She cannot be taken to a bar nor a night club.. but why do we MUSLIMS want to go there anyways! You know how the devil sometimes makes you do things you never want to really do but sometimes you just get weak. Well hijab STOPS YOU! It is a blessing and protects you from so many things.

If you are a muslim MALE and you don’t like girls with veils on then is something wrong WITH YOU!! There is something wrong with the way you think, and nothing wrong with her! Let’s stop making veiled girls feel like there is something wrong with them! Because there isn’t!! If you are a guy and willing to share your resources with someone else then go ahead but don’t regret it later because you are the one who chose that! It is sad that when I asked my friend if he even prays and he said no.. so I said guess what? A muhajabeh girl wouldn’t take you for a husband either!!

If you are a MUSLIM girl (with or without hijab on) BE PROUD OF IT. If you have reached to the decision of wearing it then you should be totally wanting it and not just doing it because now there are better fashionable ways to wear the scarf. Do it form your heart and that’s only when it counts and that’s only when you will feel like you have done the RIGHT thing. Brag about it and don’t ever let anyone look down at you because it is your belief, your religion, and YOUR decision. Make people respect it by respecting yourself. Show people the confidence in what you do so that they learn how to deal with it even if they don’t like it. On the other hand, if you haven’t reached the decision yet and you are still waiting for the right time then I pray from all my heart that you get to it soon. Life is too short! You never know what happens, and the sooner you get to God the better you feel. If you were totally convinced and up to the challenge then you won’t ever regret it.

We have a beautiful religion and a beautiful culture that we have to brag about all the time. It is sad how we not only lost our standards but are even shamed of them at so many times!!

Peace,

Flat tyres..mmm ... I guess this is it :)

Today and I was driving to work, the road was jammed. I thought there must be an accident in front and that's why there was this traffic.

When I got to where the traffic starts, I saw a big army truck carrying a tank on it with a FLAT TYRE! and here my sister says something truely cynical.. "el jeish el 3arabi MBANSHER!!" ( The Arab army is on flat tyres)

We laughed as the irony hit both of us. I went on to tell my sister mmmmmmm so this is WHY they never got to palestine.. This is why they never got to Iraq.. This is why they will never get to Lebanon.. This is why they will never get anywhere. :) They have flat tyres.

Why do we always misinterpret things? I thought they never wanted to go, I guess now they have a good reason.. FLAT TYRES.

You know what is even worst? Four soldiers ( with big tummies dangling in front of them)were standing by the truck.. not trying to change it or maybe they didnt even know how to, so they were simply waiting for help from whoever they called to come and fix the tyre.

So our army not only has flat tyres but also CAN'T FIX them.

That sure makes us rest assured that whenever any arab or muslim needs help everyone around will be there for them just after they change the flat tyre....

BANSHARO EL SHABAB!!!

Peace

I couldn't but CRY!!!

No wonder our kids die everyday and there is noone to SHOUT!!

I'm shocked that there are people who still do that.

I'm shocked that people still have the time to do things like these.

Let me tell you the story:

There is this person who has been calling my phone lately. I dont know him and I definately dont want to. This person thinks it is cute or mysterious or whatever that he just calls my phone and starts putting songs for me to hear. At the beginning i thought this is just a stupid prank from friends around me.. just teasing .. but this is not funny anymore.

Today at 6:00 AM my phone rings and i wake up really scared... early morning!! WHO IS CALLING unless someone is dead or something terrible is happening, and with my family being in lebanon I was so tense. I just picked up and I didnt even look at the number to hear what?? !!! just guess!!??? plssssssssssssssssssss

I hear the song by Wael Kfoori " ma3'roora sarlek meddi b7akeeki w ma betreddi"

HOW STUPID

HOW SILLY

HOW CHILDISH

HOW 7MAR!!

I didnt say anything and simply shut the phone .. I just thought that it would be over.. the person calls again and again....I put my phone on silent and when I woke up I found 36 MISS CALLS!!

Why do our men do this?
Why does our youth waste time in such stupid shamefull acts!!!
Has he no sense of dignity!! if he has trouble sleeping he could simply read Quran in the early morning. That would put him in peace!! I dont know what kind of people sees all the dead bodies of people being burnt and still has the emotions to waste calling people he doesnt know or maybe knows.

MY GOD!! I rarely have time to eat, see my family, see friends, blog, do sports, AND THIS PERSON HAS A WHOLE  HOUR in the morning just calling others and annoying them!!

I was really pissed in fact I was scared... what kind of freak knows my number and what does he actually want. I have a radio so I really dont need the services he is offering!!

TO whoever he is.. I JUST HATE you.... I just think you are the stupidest silliest creature on earth!!

I wish I knew who it was.. it is really starting to annoy me.

ONE OF THE WORST!!

Well this is really one of the most embarrasing ones!!! I have no idea how it happened!!

Here it goes:

Reema hears there is a new employee

Reema is always eager to meet people

Reema plans to go and say hi and introduce herself. ( please note that Reema is in marketing and he is in accounting and that they will probably have no communications later on but she JUST had to do this since she cant just shut up and stay in her place in peace)

Reema finishes lunch and says oh this is the right time i'll just pass by his office and say hi, oh by the way she had a diet Coke in hand!!!

Reema says " mar7aba" so stands up and comes closer to greet her , throwing his hand for a shake... so Reema probably forgets the diet coke and takes her hand out throwing the coke on the floor, but on the way splashing it all over HIM!! :)

so the only reaction that comes out of the poor fella is
"ahlaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan"

so Reema says: " well I came in to introduce myself and that at this point I made myself very very clear!"

( office boy rushes into the scene and starts cleaning the mess.. the other poor guy... and he gives the new guy tissue to wipe himself out)

The new guy says: " thanks I will make sure I remember this "

I say " I'm sure you will, oh and by the way I'm Reema from marketing"

he says " tsharafna " with a very wicked smile!!!

at this point I just had to leave the place, ofcourse I was all turning red and yellow out of embarrasement!

he didnt say a word and i didnt either.. and just left with the little bit of dignity left!!

it was exactly 20 minutes ago.. and now all am thinking.. I WISH IT WAS 7-UP.. atleast it wouldnt have stained that bad on his white shirt!!!!

By the way: somebody should have warned me earlier that he is a CUTE guy!!! I guess i was just startled to see a handsome guy... It isnt like there are many handsome men in the world!!! lol
