Break Time!

I’m having a small problem! I have not really thought about it seriously but it started to bother me .. as in REALLY BOTHER ME!!! Withing the past 3 weeks a series on unfortunate events have been happening. Check them out!

RASH EPISODE:  I was with a bunch of girl friends and some girl commented on how white I was.. next day I get a rash like thing over my body!

CAR EPISODE: I get a comment on how my car was very clean… TAKH!!!! I slightly hit it.. nothing major bas ya3ni I HIT the car!! ( btw my car isn’t even fancy and it is usually DIRTY or the dirties car on earth.. but it was washed on that day!)

TROUSERS EPISODE: we had a guest at our home and she was really pleased of how much weight I have lost. She hasn’t seen me in a long time… and commented of how the trousers I was wearing looked good on me! After I leave the guest room and go into my room and weeeeeeshkh the trousers get stuck on some handle and gets TORN!!! That was the third time I wear those trousers ya3ni NEW!!!

 WEDDING EPISODE: Last week we were invited to a wedding. And guess what? The day after the wedding I had a severe headache ALL DAY!!!

TODAY!!!! TODAY!! Three hours ago!! I was getting ready to leave home when my mom’s friend comes (  not the same friend in the trousers episode) and she comments about the skirt like wooooooooooow it looks beautiful on me. And yes yes .. I go down to the car and drive safely but as soon as I step down of my car, I step with the heel on the skirt ad yes it tears apart!!! And yes it is BRAND NEW!!!! Awal labseh ya jama3a!!!

FOR GOD’S SAKE I DON’T WANT TO DIE !!!

Note: I’m not the cutest chick on earth, am not rich, and nothing to be envied for.

Note 2: I pray and read Quran as much as I can.

Question: I’ve always heard of stories like that, but are they related or am I exaggerating??

Strangest dream you ever had:

I have the worst dreams ever most of the time. They are also usually crazy but most of the time they turn out to mean something. Cant remember any right now!

LIST OF RULES FOR FEMALES

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I won't have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor....it won't happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12amand6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because my team is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce.

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the half time score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".

12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "I'm glad the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Premier League, Italian League, Spanish League, etc etc.

A book I have just finished reading written  by Mortimer J. Adler under the title of Great Six Ideas discusses these 6 great ideas:

Truth

Goodness

Beauty

Liberty

Equality

Justice

I’ll try summarize the book as much as I can but would say that every one of you should get their own copy: it is an interesting book J

The author aims to engage his readers in the business of philisphy, which is every person’s business. To be a human being is to be endowed in the practice of philosophizing thing. “ to some degree we all engage in philosophical thought in the course of our daily lives” the author states. Knowing this for a fact is not enough and it is crucial to understand why!! The answer is IDEAS! Through Ideas we get to understand ourselves, our society, and the world we live in.

There are 64 Ideas mentioned in the book some of which are : Animal, art, beauty, being, good, Evil, God, Government, habit, experience, evolution. Emotion, duty, education, nature, opinion, love, man……etc etc

Why did he only stress on the SIX IDEAS?? Simply because these six ideas are the “ source of light that illuminates the whole realm of great Ideas.”

The author mainly divided the six Ideas into Trios.

First Trio: Liberty, Equality, and Justice

             These three ideas are the ones we live by in society. These ideas represent ideals which a large portion of people if not all realize for themselves and their happiness. Only in human society ( could be family or state) that people claim for liberty, equality, and justice as most of these ideas are not present or not applied. Government, revolutions, democracy, war, peace, all fall within and are a result of the circle of the first trio of ideas.

Second Trio: Truth, Goodness, and Beauty

            These are the 3 ideas we judge by. Unlike the previous three which invoved outside factors, these three are entirely private. A person would always judge a statement to be wrong or right, to praise good and resent evil, to discriminate between beautiful and ugly. This is how we all are and these factors depend from one person to another based on their experiences preferences and background.

Enough summarizing and I just hope I gave an idea of what the book is trying to say!

Let me relate this to us. Let’s take a look at our blogs and posts. No matter what your post was about it would sure fall under one of these Ideas. It shocked me how the writer could summarize life into SIX big ideas! The bok does not let out any aspect of our lives out!

Which takes me to a question… What would you be if you weren’t YOU now?? What would you be like? What would you want to be like? Your career? Your looks? What have you always wanted to be but either never got lucky to do or maybe it was just ridiculous to do. Did you ever think of that? Well the first thing that comes to our minds is if I wasn’t a doctor then I would definitely be an engineer for example. Well I deeply thought about this or actually always did but the song got it out of me J

If I haven’t lived here for all my life where would have I lived?

 Mmmmmmmmmm well definitely Palestine.. It is good to have a country and not feel like you CANNOT EVEN go there for a visit.

If I didn’t study Marketing what would have I studied?

mmmmmmmmmmm… I wouldn’t have studied anything else. I love marketing and would have chose it. If I were to study something else welll I wouldn’t have studied anything. I think education isn’t about only holding a degree and could be achieved by simply reading J ofcourse that’s a big IF J

If I didn’t have my current job what would I be working ??

Many possibilities come to my mind and the people who know me would definitely know that I’ve always wanted to be a belly dancer hehehehehe J I’d also want to be a waitress J yah a waitress.. bas not any waitress J lazim bemakan nice.. ya3ni.. somewhere in Cyprus in the cafes that are near the beach. Maybe I would finish being a waitress in the café and later be a dance teacher or maybe in some gym. Ofcourse I cant do that now but once again what IF?! I’ve always wanted a simple life. Nothing too fancy nor tooo complicated.

Everybody has done wrong choices in their lives and we cant say what if I never did them. Well tooo bad everyone goes through mistakes and if you don’t fall for it you don’t learn from life. I’m not saying that I would have gone back in time and not done mistakes but am saying what if I was a different person.
